Supporting Educational Initiatives
Throughout the year, we raise funds to support three initiatives supporting women and girls thru monetary donations to the affiliate..
Net Profits raised from our annual Used Book Sale are sent to the Higher Education Fund, the Marge Powell Leadership Award Fund and the Branch & Community Fund chairperson each spring. We also accept donations from the community for these initiatives which are 100% tax deductible per our 501 (C) (3) tax exempt status.
*The funds are split three ways between the following committees:
* Higher Education Fund
– Henry Ford College
– University of Michigan – Dearborn
Returning women students have multiple roles to manage such as breadwinner, mom, and caregiver. They often have extra ordinary unexpected expenses such as child care, car repairs and tuition needs. We recognize the burden placed upon these students and with the funds raised at the Annual Used Book Sale, Crafty Creations, and Empowering Women merchandise, we are able help them meet those expenses and help them reach their educational goals.
